Mr. Carnley passed away April 26, 2019, in Bonham, Texas, at the age of 80.

David Richard (Sleepy) Carnley was born August 4, 1938, in Orth, Texas, to Albert Richard and Stella Mae (Reedy) Carnley. He married Jonni Leota Booth May 25, 1960, in Graham, Texas. David was a cattle truck driver by trade, which is what brought him to this area in 1980, when he took a job offer from the John Pannell Ranch. He (Sleepy) and his wife Jonni (Lil Turkey) drove together for many years. David loved his family and friends. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for any of them if they asked. He loved old cars, and had restored a 1970 El Camino, better known as Ole Red, which he enjoyed taking to car shows.

David was preceded in death by his Carnley beloved wife, Jonni Carnley; his parents, Albert Carnley and Stella Shadwick; three sisters, Katheryn Moss, Martha Louise Burnett, and Mary Alice Holcomb; and brother, Boyd Carnley. David is survived by his children, Debby Carlile of McAlester, David Aaron Carnley of Windom, Texas, Daniel Carnley of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Angela King of Soper; brothers, Carl Carnley and Noby Shadwick, Jr.; grandchildren, Brandy Bass, Dustin Armor, Tanner Armor, Ashley Wright, Chase Carnley, Sunny Carnley, Becky Stratham, Cody Grant and Amber Carnley; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of friends. The family received friends on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel. Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences at www.praterlampton.com.
